How Much Does Artificial Turf Cost in Florida?

How Much Does Artificial Turf Cost in Florida?

Artificial turf cost in Florida depends on the turf you choose, the size of your yard, and the work needed to prepare and install it. This guide shows how Turf USA’s planning calculator builds a starting budget, with examples for lawns and backyard putting greens.

For an initial budget, Turf USA’s yard planner combines your selected turf’s material price with a $6 per square foot installation allowance. With the landscape products currently in the planner, that produces a preliminary budget of $6.79–$7.55 per square foot. These are Turf USA planner calculations, not a Florida market average or a guaranteed installed price.

What goes into an artificial turf project budget?

There are two starting components: the turf material and installation. In our planner, landscape material prices currently range from $0.79 to $1.55 per square foot, depending on the product. The calculator adds the $6 per square foot installation allowance to the area you enter.

The installation allowance is a budgeting assumption, not an installer’s offer. Turf USA supplies the turf and helps homeowners connect with independent installers. Your installer will inspect the site, confirm measurements, explain what is included, and provide their own quote.

Example budgets for 500, 1,000 and 1,500 square feet

The examples below use Lush Estate at $1.20 per square foot for material, plus the $6 installation allowance. That gives a starting calculation of $7.20 per square foot.

500 sq. ft.$600$3,000$3,600
1,000 sq. ft.$1,200$6,000$7,200
1,500 sq. ft.$1,800$9,000$10,800

What can change the final installation price?

Two yards with the same square footage can need different amounts of preparation. Before comparing quotes, ask each installer to explain these items:

  • Removal and disposal: existing lawn, roots, concrete or other materials that need to come out.
  • Ground preparation: excavation, base materials, grading and compaction.
  • Drainage: how water will move through and away from the finished area.
  • Access and layout: narrow entrances, obstacles, curves, seams and detailed cutting.
  • Finishing materials: infill, edging, fasteners and any project-specific accessories.
  • Ordering and delivery: extra material for cutting waste, freight, delivery and applicable tax.

Ask for an itemized scope so you can see what is included and which charges are additional. A lower headline price is easier to evaluate when both quotes cover the same work.

Does a backyard putting green cost the same as a lawn?

The planner treats a putting green as a separate area. Its putting-green material allowance is $2 per square foot, plus the $6 installation allowance, for a preliminary calculation of $8 per square foot.

For example, a 100-square-foot green produces an $800 planning estimate. Combine that with 500 square feet of Lush Estate landscape turf and the preliminary total is $4,400: $3,600 for the lawn and $800 for the green.

Putting-green design, contours, cups, fringe and base construction need to be discussed with your installer. Confirm how those requirements affect the final quote. Enter the lawn and green areas separately in the planner so the same space is not counted twice.

How to measure your yard before using the calculator

For a rectangle, multiply its length by its width in feet. A 20-foot by 25-foot space is 500 square feet.

For an irregular yard, divide the space into smaller shapes, estimate each area, and add them together. Leave out areas you will keep as planting beds, paving or other surfaces. Your installer will verify the measurements and calculate ordering quantities, including allowances for roll widths, seams and cutting waste.

Choose turf for how your household uses the space

Budget matters, but it is only one part of choosing turf. Compare pile height, texture and appearance for a landscape lawn. If pets or play are priorities, discuss drainage, cleaning, expected use and maintenance with your installer.

Common questions about artificial turf costs in Florida

How much should I budget for 500 square feet of artificial turf?

Using Lush Estate at $1.20 per square foot and the planner’s $6 installation allowance, 500 square feet has a preliminary budget of $3,600. Your installer will confirm site preparation, materials, ordering quantities and any additional charges.

Can I estimate a lawn and putting green together?

Yes. Enter each area separately in the artificial turf cost calculator. A 500-square-foot Lush Estate lawn plus a 100-square-foot putting green produces a $4,400 planning estimate with the current calculator inputs.

Does the calculator replace an installer’s quote?

No. It is a starting point for planning. An independent installer needs to assess your yard, confirm the work required and provide a written quote. Ask what is included for removal, base preparation, drainage, infill, edging, delivery and tax.
